Pained by constant violence in the news we might ask: "Wouldn't it be nice if people just got along?” Perhaps what is needed is a change of perspective: “How is nonviolence viable today?” This 90-minute presentation will illuminate the history and development of nonviolence as a principled and strategic force. Learn how nonviolent movements have inspired and changed the face of history. As Gandhi taught, human beings are neither inherently violent nor nonviolent, but we are wired for choice. Michael Whiting is a student of Sri Eknath Easwaran and the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation and a BMCM Satsang facilitator for the past 30 years. Michael has trained in Nonviolence through the Metta Center for Nonviolence and with the University of Rhode Island Nonviolence Institute. Michael is a founder of Sowers of Justice Network and serves as the Chair of the Parish Planning Committee for St. William Church.
