In a world where debaters outshout those seeking dialogue, where being right trumps cultivating understanding, where violence is often the go-to solution, how does one live compassionately? How do we nurture, in ourselves and in our young people, practices that foster an open heart?

Living Compassion is a 1/2-day hands-on seminar for high school students led by dynamic, experienced teacher, Cory Lockhart. It offers practical steps to nurture thoughtful presence in the world. Students will practice ways of being with people to cultivate greater awareness, openness, and care for others in the classroom and beyond. Themes include:

o   Stepping out of one’s comfort zone
o   Listening with compassion
o   Practicing gratitude

Cory Lockhart is a teacher, writer, and peacemaker. For 14 years she taught and organized service opportunities for students at Walden School and Trinity High School. Based on experiences at home and from traveling and volunteering abroad, she shares the places, lessons, and practices embedded in her heart. Cory currently works as a Program Associate with JustFaith Ministries and has an ongoing commitment working with Christian Peacemaker Teams in Palestine.
