Growing Love in Tibet: Impace for Tibet Through Service and Engagement

A Presentation by Dr. Losang Rabgey, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Machik

Sunday, September 17, 4:30pm

Join us for the Second Annual MACHIK GLOBAL DINNER!  Enjoy a Tibetan Momo meal and a presentation about Machik, a non-profit led by Tibetan women that works to incubate social innovation for Tibet.  Machik’s programs range from education to gender empowerment and from youth leadership to civic engagement inside Tibet. Dr. Rabgey will speak on Machik’s approach and impact from nearly 20 years of work in a challenging context of uncertainty in contemporary Tibet.

Dr Losang Rabgey holds a PhD in gender and anthropology from the University of London where she was the first Tibetan to become a Commonwealth Scholar. In 2006, Losang was recognized by the National Geographic Society as one of eight Emerging Explorers from around the world for her innovative work in gender equality and bridging cultural divides. She is a mentor and frequent public speaker, having presented at the Nobel Peace Forum, Yale, and Harvard, among others. Her current research interests include gender, social innovation and conservation in Tibet. Born in India and raised in Canada, Losang first returned to Tibet in 1987.
