Dr. Joey Weber was born and raised in an FPMT (Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition) monastic community in the UK. His parents are Andy Weber a Thangka painter and Ondy Willson an FPMT teacher and founder of Yeshe Buddhist Group, an FPMT affiliation in Britain. Dr. Joey was the Spiritual Co-Ordinator for Yeshe Buddhist Group for two years. A long-time practitioner, he took refuge with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Mcleod Ganj when he was 18 years old and has since tried to create a professional path to enrich people’s lives. 

Dr. Joey completed his PhD focused on equanimity, its role in meditation, and in the cultivation of compassion.  He developed and validated one of world’s first psychometric scales that solely focuses on the construct of equanimity – The Equanimity Barriers Scale [EBS]. His book entitled Why Mindfulness is not Enough: Unlocking Compassion with Equanimity, is an overview of his research and includes case studies and guided meditations in order to bring equanimity down from the mystical and into the lap of the practical.
