Marking National Uprising Day 2024, the 65th anniversary of the violent occupation of Tibet by the Chinese Communist government
Kundun is a 1997 American epic biographical film written by Melissa Mathison and directed by Martin Scorsese. It is based on the life and writings of Tenzin Gyatso, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the exiled spiritual leader of Tibet. Tenzin Thuthob Tsarong, a grandnephew of the Dalai Lama, stars as the adult Dalai Lama, while Tencho Gyalpo, a niece of the Dalai Lama, appears as the Dalai Lama's mother.
Rights to this movie are owned by Disney, which agreed to take it from public streaming in response to pressure from the Chinese Communist government, which considers His Holiness a threat to China.
